On the 3rd of February 2025, the students of Grades 6 to 8 from All Nations International School embarked on a joyful and enriching field trip to the historic city of Galle. This journey was not only packed with fun and adventure but was also a reminder of God’s incredible creativity and the rich heritage He has allowed us to be part of.
A Day Full of Discovery and Delight
With sleepy eyes but excited hearts, our students set off at 7:00 AM, buzzing with anticipation. Their first destination was the famous Galle Dutch Fort, a stunning testimony to Sri Lanka’s colonial history. Built in 1588 and later expanded by the Dutch, this UNESCO World Heritage Site revealed to our students how cultures once clashed and mingled—reminding us that God’s purposes are woven even through history.
At 11:00 AM, our curious young minds stepped into the Maritime Museum, where they were surrounded by tales of the sea—ship models, ancient tools, and fascinating artifacts that brought the textbook pages to life! It was a powerful moment of connecting science and history with real-world wonder, all under the watchful eye of our Creator who “placed the sand as the boundary for the sea” (Jeremiah 5:22).
Faith, Fun, and Friendship
After an inspiring morning, the students recharged at Sahana Restaurant, enjoying a delicious lunch and fellowship with friends. Laughter and stories filled the air, reminding us that every good thing—especially friendship and food—is a gift from above.
Refreshed and ready, we journeyed on to the Sea Turtle Hatchery, where God’s marvelous handiwork was on full display. Students observed these gentle creatures up close, learning about their conservation and the efforts to protect their future. It was a moment to reflect on our role as stewards of God’s creation.
The final stop was the Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum Complex, a cultural treasure trove celebrating Sri Lankan traditions, literature, and daily life. Students explored traditional tools, arts, and exhibits that gave them a deeper appreciation for the beauty and wisdom found in our local heritage.
Homeward Bound with Grateful Hearts
Though we departed the museum a little later than planned (snack time ran long!), no one minded. The ride back to school was filled with tired smiles, songs, and shared memories. By 9:30 PM, the buses pulled into school with 79 students, 9 teachers, and 4 parents, all carrying hearts full of gratitude.
This trip was more than just a school outing—it was a living classroom, a spiritual reflection, and a day overflowing with joy, learning, and God’s goodness. At All Nations International School, we believe every journey is a gift, and every moment is a chance to see the world through the eyes of faith.
May our students always continue to explore, learn, and grow—not only in knowledge but also in the grace and truth of Christ.
