Primary Sports Meet 2024/2025

On the 31st of January 2025, the All Nations International School grounds burst into color, energy, and celebration as we hosted our much-awaited Annual Primary Division Sports Meet—a day that wasn’t just about races and records, but about unity, perseverance, and joy in Christ.

This year’s theme, “Tribes,” captured the heart of what we strive to teach our students: strength through unity, courage through teamwork, and purpose through leadership. Just as the tribes of Israel each had their own role but were united under God, our school houses came together in spirited competition, each bringing their own strength to the field.

Leading the Charge – With Heart and Purpose

Our dedicated house mistresses were the driving force behind each tribe, guiding their teams with patience, care, and joyful discipline. We honor the incredible work of:

  • Mrs. Surangi Tharuka – Aithales House

  • Mrs. Thushini Perera – Nasmaws House

  • Mrs. Shani Fernando – Isosukaws House

  • Mrs. Denishiya Fernando – Semnaws House

Our house captains—student leaders of exceptional character—poured their hearts into encouraging their peers and organizing events with excellence:

  • Aithales: Ruel & Kemalee

  • Nasmaws: Ranuth & Sanidhi

  • Isosukaws: Yenuth & Dehami

  • Semnaws: Rehan & Sasenya

They reminded us of the biblical principle of servant leadership, leading not for personal glory but to uplift their teams and glorify God through their efforts.

A Day of Joy, Energy, and Faith in Action

The day began with a grand welcome of our chief guest, Mr. Anura De Silva (President of the Football Federation), alongside our Principal, Mr. David Ribakov, sectional heads, and esteemed guests. A beautiful welcome dance and a drill display set the tone, celebrating the diversity, unity, and energy that fills our school.

Excitement filled the air as the races began—class relays, sprints, and other athletic events kept the crowd cheering from start to finish. But this was more than just a competition—it was a reminder of Hebrews 12:1, which encourages us to “run with endurance the race marked out for us.” Every student, win or lose, showed resilience, courage, and good sportsmanship—the very qualities we seek to nurture as a Christian community.

Everyone’s Included – Teachers and Parents Take the Field!

One of the most delightful moments of the day was the Teachers’ Game, where laughter, cheers, and a touch of healthy rivalry filled the field. The winning team from Isosukaws HouseTeacher Shani, Teacher Piyamini, and Teacher Sara—demonstrated amazing teamwork and heart.

Not to be outdone, our wonderful parents joined the action in the Parents’ Game, displaying just as much enthusiasm and joy! The winners, Mr. Jay Yoon and Mrs. Jay Lee, were a true inspiration—reminding us that our school is not just a place for children to grow, but a whole community where families are part of the journey.

Victory and Celebration – Giving Glory to God

The climax of the day came during the award ceremony, where medals, certificates, and the championship trophy were awarded. Isosukaws House claimed the overall championship with 357 points, followed by Semnaws House with 317, and Aithales House with 240.

But more than the scores or trophies, what stood out was the spirit of love, joy, and community in Christ. As a Christian school, we believe every talent is a gift from God and every opportunity to compete is a chance to honor Him. It was clear that our students were not just running for victory—they were running with purpose, joy, and gratitude to the One who gives us strength.

Hearts Full of Thanks, Eyes Set on the Future

As the sun set and the field emptied, Mrs. Nipuni Fernando, Head of the Sports Meet Committee, delivered a warm and heartfelt vote of thanks. Her words reflected the gratitude we all felt—for the unity, the effort, the laughter, and the blessing of a community centered in Christ.

This was more than just a sports meet. It was a day where faith met fun, where families and friends cheered together, and where the goodness of God was evident in every detail.

As we move forward, may we continue to run the race of life with endurance, supporting one another, growing in faith, and giving glory to God in all we do.
