A Journey of Learning Beyond the Classroom
What happens when learning steps out of the classroom and into the real world? For our Grade 6, 7, and 8 students, it became an unforgettable journey of discovery, reflection, and growth.
Seethawaka Kingdom: Where History Came Alive
Our journey began in the heart of history—the Seethawaka Kingdom. Students stood where kings once ruled. As a result, they travelled back to the 16th century in their minds.
There, they learned about King Rajasinghe I. He showed courage and strong leadership as he defended the nation. Because of this, history became real and meaningful, not just a lesson in a book.
At the tomb of King Rajasinghe I, students paused to reflect. They thought about sacrifice, leadership, and responsibility. They also considered the cost of standing for what is right.
Barandi Kovil: Learning Respect and Unity
Next, students visited Barandi Kovil. This experience opened their eyes to Sri Lanka’s cultural and religious harmony.
In addition, they learned an important value we hold as a school: respect for others. They also saw the importance of unity in diversity.
Seethawaka Palace: Imagination and History
After that, students explored the remains of the Seethawaka Palace. This sparked curiosity and imagination.
They pictured how kings lived. They also thought about how ancient society worked. As a result, they gained a deeper understanding of how nations grow and develop.
Kalatuwawa Water Center: Learning About Resources
However, the learning did not stop with history. At the Kalatuwawa Water Purification Center, students discovered how clean water reaches our homes.
They learned that we often take water for granted. Then they learned about responsibility and wise use of resources. They also understood the importance of caring for God’s creation.
Seethawaka Botanical Garden: Wonder of Creation
Finally, the day ended at the Seethawaka Botanical Garden. Students walked through lush greenery and saw rare plants.
They reflected on the beauty of nature. In addition, they were reminded to protect creation for future generations.
A Meaningful Journey
Overall, this field trip was more than a day out. It was a journey of discovery and reflection. It helped students grow in knowledge and character.
At All Nations International School, we believe education is not only about what students learn—but also about who they become.
